Bulthaup b3 with a View

18-04-2020

Our next showcase brief to share is an incredible dining and kitchen space, custom designed to make the most of an incredible view over the Clyde Estuary.
Our reputation as Bulthaup installers does proceed us on occasion and the owners of the property sought out Cameron Interiors for this very reason. Bulthaup is a brand and mark of sheer quality and we are proud of the excellent working relationship and client esteem we have developed over the years thanks to this phenomenal kitchen design brand.
Using the bulthaup b3 precision designed multi-function wall and island, with additional storage from the beautifully engineered b3 kitchen wall system, the design brief was formed around the social and functional aspects of this kitchen’s everyday use.

The small details are the ones which really provide functional productivity to a busy kitchen and we made sure these were in abundance. A bulthaup wall tap was integrated into the wall system at the dishwashing sink, conveniently located away from the main prep area. This additional tap allows ease of cleaning around this sink and relieves the prep area of multi-purpose usage.

There is a discreet desk space to the left of the coffee machine, allowing our client to take the time to peruse recipes or cookery books. Perfect for taking notes on ingredients, or for planning menus for family meals and visiting guests.  We have also strategically positioned the wine fridge in this location for convenience!
Bulthaup pocket doors are perfect for creating space and then hiding it from plain sight. One located to the right of the coffee machine hides everyday appliances and a small worksurface. This enables our clients to choose the space requirements they need when they need them – making the kitchen practical but hidden when desired. A second bulthaup pocket door can be found to the right of the hob to house mixers or kitchen gadgets, making sure the space is available but discreet.

The spacious bulthaup island faces the incredible view. The island is perfect for kitchen tasks, but incorporates the social aspects of any kitchen – particularly enabling the chef to participate in dining table conversations and enjoy the views beyond at the same time.

Bulthaup-designed swivel lamps were the perfect addition to the main lighting system in the space. The swivel lamps allow for dimmed and atmospheric lighting which is perfect for an open plan space.

Our additional appliances came from Gaggenau and a large Vario refrigerator was installed within the solid walnut doors of the wall system. The walnut door is a specialist finish by bulthaup but their catalogue allows for a variety of excellent wood finishes.

Finally, a Gaggenau oven, combination steam oven and coffee machine gives the client every option at their disposal when cooking and entertaining. The Bora Professional hob system with Tepan is a fun way to entertain but also stay healthy. The brief allowed us to use the Platinum Matt lacquer to finish the furniture which we believe complimented the hob system perfectly.

In keeping with the furniture finish, the Caesarstone Clamshell worktops kept this throughline of understated elegance. Keeping the pantry room to the rear of the kitchen as a storage and heavy dishwashing space means the kitchen will retain this elegance throughout everyday use.

The space was interior designed by Platform 9 International, who were great to work alongside and who completed the kitchen and dining area beautifully. Their coral palette was perfect for the elegant look and feel that the client laid out in their design brief.
